Japanese Culture Sharing|Event Highlights On September 14, the New Immigrants Center in Wanhua was filled with a vibrant Japanese atmosphere. Guided by teacher Masako, participants embarked on a cultural journey through Japan’s four seasons. The event introduced traditional customs and aesthetics tied to seasonal changes, offering insight into the meaning behind each transition. From creating auspicious shimenawa (sacred ropes) to learning the art of preparing traditional matcha, every detail reflected Japan’s respect for nature and rituals. Participants not only crafted their own shimenawa to symbolize New Year’s blessings, but also enjoyed matcha paired with handmade Japanese sweets—delicate taro-filled Daifuku (rice cake). The blend of tea and dessert made the perfect ending to a cultural journey filled with flavor, warmth, and connection. This event offered not just knowledge of Japanese culture, but also the joy of experiencing and sharing it together.
