On Thanksgiving Day, families gather to enjoy a festive meal and share their gratitude for family, friendship, health, wealth, and other aspects of life. The Thanksgiving feast is the centerpiece of the celebration, with roast turkey being the most common main dish, which is why Thanksgiving is sometimes called “Turkey Day.” The turkey is usually stuffed with bread, vegetables, and spices and roasted until its skin is golden and crispy. Alongside the turkey, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie are must-have treats, completing the traditional Thanksgiving feast.
Since 1924, the famous American department store Macy’s has hosted the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, one of the most iconic Thanksgiving celebrations in the United States. The first parade was organized by Macy’s employees as a large-scale Christmas-themed event, featuring floats, marching bands, and animals from the zoo, marching around the area where Macy’s first began. Nearly a hundred years later, it’s still one of the most iconic Thanksgiving events in the U.S., marking the start of the holiday season with color, music, and joy.
