Beitou District Office “Fermentation Witch’s Magic Jar” Workshop Learning Outcomes Showcase – Caoshan Citrus Jam & Fermented Vegetable Jar Course (4-8)
To encourage new immigrant residents to explore diverse interests and develop a greater appreciation for the local environment, Beitou District Office organized the “Caoshan Citrus Jam and Vegetable Fermentation Jar Workshop” on March 26 and 31, 2026. New immigrant families from Japan, Myanmar, Indonesia, Argentina, Hong Kong, Macao, and China joined the event. Through hands-on food and agricultural education, participants experienced multicultural interaction while building a stronger connection with local culinary traditions. During the course, participants learned about the unique geographical features of Caoshan, the restoration of Caoshan citrus, eco-friendly farming practices, and the full process from cultivation to harvest. By making citrus jam and fermented vegetable jars, the new immigrant participants were encouraged to blend flavors from their home countries and create their own locally inspired specialties. The workshop not only satisfied their taste buds, but also deepened their emotional connection to the land of Beitou.
