Practical Leathercraft Workshop – Learning Outcomes Showcase (4-7)
Zhongshan District Office launched the “Practical Leathercraft Workshop” from March 5 to March 13, 2026, guiding 20 new immigrant participants on a focused and meticulous journey into artisan craftsmanship under the instruction of professional leathercraft teachers and new immigrant teaching assistants. During the workshop, participants handcrafted a variety of practical and meaningful leather items, including ID card holders, “Peace Turtle” keychains symbolizing blessings and safety, as well as the more challenging artisan short wallets and woven leather handbags. Although leathercraft may appear simple on the surface, every stitch reflected the participants’ patience, creativity, and dedication, resulting in works of craftsmanship comparable to boutique-quality products. A special exhibition of the participants’ work was held on graduation day, showcasing an impressive array of handcrafted items that resembled a luxury artisan market. The exhibition brought participants a strong sense of achievement and confidence. During the course, representatives from the Revenue Service Office, the Municipal Pawnshop, and the Household Registration Office were also invited to provide policy information and practical life resources, helping new immigrants gain greater access to useful services and information. Zhongshan District Office will continue to offer diverse and meaningful courses in the future—helping new immigrant communities learn practical skills, build friendships, and create a strong support network together.
