Cheng Kung Concert Band - Club Introduction
A Legacy of Excellence: Timeless Brilliance Founded in 1954, the Chenggong High School Wind Band initially focused on marching performances, actively participating in parades and ceremonies. Over time, it evolved into an indoor wind orchestra featuring woodwinds, brass, and percussion instruments. Thanks to the collaborative efforts of directors, past presidents, and band members, the ensemble has consistently achieved remarkable results. Each year, it advances from Taipei City competitions to the national level, earning accolades in the National Student Music Competition. In the 112th academic year, the band achieved an impressive score of 91.8, securing its reputation as a consistent top-tier ensemble in northern Taiwan. Melodies of Friendship: Bringing People Together Through Music Focused on growth and inclusivity, the Chenggong Wind Band seeks to attract musicians of all levels, fostering a love for music among students. With well-planned budgeting and resource allocation, the band enables members to focus on their musical development, enriching its overall sound and performance quality. Regular rehearsals on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday provide opportunities to perfect both classical and contemporary pieces. The band’s performances, including movie and pop song arrangements at events like the Chiayi International Band Festival, captivate diverse audiences. A Celebration of Musical Excellence Committed to performing at both school and public events, the band’s annual highlight is the grand " Jì Yuè Yuè Jì " The festival's name reflects the school’s location on Jinan Road and its nickname, "Jicheng," which represents pride for both alumni and current students as "Ji Town Scholars and Literati". Under the baton of conductor Jin Bingxiang, the concert features collaborations with renowned musicians, attracting a full house year after year. As a performance-oriented ensemble, the Cheng Kung Concert Band’s mission is to share the power of music with audiences, evoking emotion through every note. Within the band, members forge strong bonds and discover the joy of performance—whether through the graceful melodies of the flute, the bright tones of the trumpet, or the powerful resonance of the bass drum. With their hearts rooted in the century-old legacy of "Jicheng," the Cheng Kung Concert Band continues to write its own vibrant chapter.
