Does YouBike require a deposit?
Becoming a YouBike member does not require a deposit. For single-use rentals, because the short-term card application does not require member registration, the system uses the credit card holder's information as a guarantee. At present, only credit card authorization is available as a deposit method. When a user rents a bike with a credit card, a pre-authorization of NT$3,000 will be placed on their account by the issuing bank. If the bike is returned properly and all service rules are followed, the authorization will be automatically canceled after five days. The actual rental amount will then be charged by the respective bank. This transaction will appear on the user's credit card statement.
