How to prepare an emergency supplies kit?

I. The emergency supplies kit should be placed in a readily accessible location at home and in the workplace.. The essential items inside the emergency supplies kit should be regularly checked and updated, at least once every six months. The contents of the kit can be customized based on individual and family circumstances through joint discussions. Include must-have items in the kit, and ensure they are personally portable. Additionally, it is advisable to prepare a kit for elderly family members and children, considering their ability to carry it and including essential items for their well-being.

Example:

1. Emergency Food: Drinking water, non-perishable food, biscuits, vacuum-packed instant food, etc. It's advisable to prepare enough food for three days in case of emergencies. Each person should have at least 3 liters of bottled water. Families with infants should include formula, baby food, bottles, etc., in the kit.

2. Medical and Hygienic Supplies: First aid supplies, including iodine, cotton swabs, gauze, etc.; Hygienic supplies, including thermometer, soap, tissues, wet wipes, menstrual pads, and medication (daily medications for chronic patients and frequently used medications). Pay attention to the expiration dates and storage conditions of medications.

3. Valuables: National ID card, National Health Insurance card, a copy of your bankbook, copies of other important documents, and a small amount of cash. It is recommended to carry some coins as well for potential vending machine use.

4. Other Items: Whistle, evacuation map (downloadable from the Taipei City Disaster Prevention Info Website), portable radio, flashlight, batteries, lighter, Swiss Army Knife, can opener, pen and paper, rope, etc. When preparing backup batteries, make sure they match the devices you plan to use.

II. An existing backpack at home can serve as the emergency supplies kit. Arrange items based on user needs. During evacuation, wear shoes, preferably with a safety helmet, and don't forget to carry the emergency supplies kit with you.
