An introduction to the key points of Taipei City’s subsidies for victims of domestic violence

This city has two major subsidies for victims of domestic violence: "Taipei City Support for Families in Special Situations (Article 4, Paragraph 1, Paragraph 3, Victims of Domestic Violence)" and "Taipei City Subsidy for Victims of Domestic Violence." The relevant information is described below:

(1) Taipei City Support for Families in Special Situations (Victims of Domestic Violence in Article 4, Item 1, Paragraph 3)

1. Subsidy items: emergency living assistance, children's living allowance, child care allowance, children's education allowance, injury and illness medical allowance, legal litigation allowance and business loan allowance.

2. Subsidy qualifications:

(1) Registered in Taipei City, and lived in the country for more than 183 days in the last year. However, first-time applicants are not subject to the minimum number of days of residence in the previous country. New residents who register their marriage with citizens of the city where they are registered and actually live in the city are not subject to registration restrictions before they obtain the nationality of their home country.

(2) Victims of domestic violence who comply with Article 4, Paragraph 1, Paragraph 3 of these Regulations.

(3) The total household income is evenly distributed according to the family members, and each person’s monthly consumption does not exceed 1.5 times the average monthly consumption expenditure per person in Taiwan announced for the year, and the family property does not exceed a certain amount announced by the central competent authority.

3. Application deadline for each subsidy: The date of acceptance of application shall be determined by the postmark on the day the application form is submitted or the receipt stamp of this bureau.

(1) Emergency living assistance: An application should be submitted within 6 months after the occurrence of the circumstances in Paragraph 1 of Article 4 of this Ordinance (if you suffer domestic violence on April 20, 2020, you must apply before October 20, 2020 submit application).

(2) Extension of emergency living assistance: An application should be submitted to the counseling unit before the expiration of the emergency living assistance subsidy.

(3) Child care subsidy: Application should be submitted within 6 months after the child is actually placed in child care institution.

(4) Legal litigation subsidy: Application should be made within 6 months from the filing of the lawsuit to the finalization of the court judgment.

(2) Taipei City Domestic Violence Victims Subsidy

1. Subsidy items: Injury medical treatment, psychological rehabilitation, resettlement and accommodation, house rent and necessary living expenses. If there is no responsible social worker, if necessary, another person will be sent to visit and evaluate the case, and the case must be reviewed and determined by the city's home defense center.

2. Subsidy qualifications:

(1) Citizens registered in Taipei City.

(2) Unregistered persons, foreigners, people from mainland China, residents of Hong Kong or Macao who are legally residing in the city and are registered for marriage or cohabitation with citizens of this city.

3. Application deadline for various subsidies:

(1) Injury examination and medical expenses: Submit within 3 months of each domestic violence incident (if you suffered domestic violence on April 20, 2020, you must apply before July 20, 2020).

(2) Psychological rehabilitation expenses: Apply within 3 months after treatment.

(3) Resettlement and accommodation costs: The family defense center determines that immediate accommodation is needed.

(4) House rent and necessary living expenses: should be submitted within 2 years after the fact of domestic violence occurs, and house rent should be submitted within 3 months from the date of the fact of renting a house.
