What should be done if a YouBike is lost or damaged?

1.How to handle damage or loss of YouBike public bicycles?

a. If a YouBike public bicycle is damaged or lost, please follow these steps:

Immediately call the 1999 Citizen Hotline ext. 5855 or 02-89788822 (regular rates apply) for assistance from a service representative.

b. Once a public bicycle is rented, the renter is responsible for its care. If the bicycle is lost, the renter must file a theft report. Should the renter be unwilling to do so, the operating company will proceed with legal action.

c. After the renter files a theft report, if the bicycle is confirmed lost, the renter must compensate for the operational loss of the public bicycle. According to Article 5 of the service terms, the compensation for each YouBike 2.0 is NT$15,000.

2. Will an electronic ticket (EasyCard) disabled by YouBike affect other services (such as the MRT or buses)?

If a card is disabled by YouBike due to reasons such as an unreturned bike, abnormal transactions, a lost card, or other factors, it will only affect the "Taipei City YouBike Rental System" Other functions of the card (like the EasyCard) will remain unaffected. However, if the card is used for other services, the member must report the loss to the respective responsible authority.

3. What should be done if a YouBike public bicycle malfunctions and cannot be ridden?

If the bicycle malfunctions during your ride or is already damaged before use, please return it to the nearest rental station. Rotate the bicycle seat 180 degrees to indicate that it is out of order and rent another bicycle. YouBike staff will collect and repair the malfunctioning bicycle. Additionally, please call the 1999 Citizen Hotline ext. 5855 or

02-89788822 (regular rates apply) to report the issue, which will help expedite the repair process.

4. What should I do if I accidentally damage a YouBike?

a. Please immediately contact the 1999 Citizen Hotline at ext. 5855 or 02-89788822 (standard charges apply) for assistance from service personnel.

b. Once a public bicycle is rented, the renter is responsible for its care, including all related parts and equipment. In case of damage, the renter must promptly notify the operating company to address the issue and cover repair costs as needed.

c. If the bicycle is severely damaged and cannot be used, requiring staff assistance for transportation, additional transportation fees will apply. If within "Taipei City," the fee is NT$150 per trip. If within "New Taipei City," the fee is NT$350 per trip. For "other areas," the renter must arrange transportation of the bicycle to Taipei City to facilitate repairs by the operating company.

d. The renter is still responsible for the rental fees during the period the bicycle is damaged. The return time is calculated based on when the bicycle is returned to a dock or when the operating company staff arrives on-site to handle the situation.

e. The operating company assists only with transporting non-operational bicycles and does not provide transportation for renters.
