About the name origin of New Immigrant in the city, it originated from the Rectifying the Name event held by non-governmental organizations in March 2003. After foreign and Mainland China spouses voted the expectative name to be called as New Immigrant, this name passed the resolution of Taipei City Government New Immigrants Caring and Consultation Working Group First Periodic Meeting on Dec 21st, 2004. The name of New Immigrant has been used to address foreign and Mainland China spouses. At the same time, all the documents and terms of relevant programs have been amended.
