To take care of national health, our country has implemented the National Health Insurance system. Everyone only needs to pay insurance fee every month, in case of illness, maternity, accidental injury, a person can go to the contracted medical care institutions to receive proper care. Therefore, new immigrants should never ignore this benefit. In Taiwan area, a person who holds residence certificate and qualifies as the insured with eligible dependent and have stayed in Taiwan for more than six months can join the insurance . National Health Insurance provides the medical services as below:
- In case of illness, injury, maternity or accident, the outpatient care or hospitalization service are provided, the insured should seek medical care according to relevant medical regulations and pay portion of medical charges.
- Preventive health care services such as preventive services for children and adults, women Pap smear test, prenatal examinations and others, which are exempt from medical charges.
